Abstract
Recently, research and development in the field of optoelectronics have been extensively carried out using various materials that include nitride and organic materials as well as oxide materials such as ZnO and TiO2. However, most oxide materials that are in practical use are polycrystalline. This presentation introduces the present status of research and development, focusing on the application of polycrystalline oxides for optoelectronic devices using thin film/ceramic sheet structures as follows: (1) inorganic EL using oxide phosphors, (2) heterojunction solar cells using oxide semiconductors, and (3) transparent conducting oxide thin films that are essential for these devices.
