A case of IIa+IIc early cancer (15×15 mm) in the second portion of the duodenum is reported.
A healthy 56-year-old male had received upper GI endoscopy. A IIa+IIc lesion was found in the second portion of the duodenum. After spraying indigocarmine, the lesion was clearly identified. The histopathological examination on biopsy specimen revealed group V. This lesion also was identified on hypotonic duodenography. IIa+IIc lesion was located within duodenal mucosa by Endoscopic ultrasonography.
The endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) was successfully done. The pathology on the resected specimen revealed well differentiated adenocarcinoma. The carcinoma cells were found only within the mucosa and no invasion into blood and lymphatic vassels. The resection edge was free of adenocarcinoma cells. Following examination has shown neither local recurrence of neoplasm nor metastatic events.
