A 62-year-old female had received upper GI endoscopy for her epigastralgia. Polypoid lesion was located on second portion of the duodenum.
She was admitted for the purpose of endoscopic polypectomy of the duodenal polyp. Routine endoscopic finding could not show the bottom of the polyp because of its disturbing fold. So we tried to exam using a clear cap which sets top of endoscope. The bottom of polyp was revealed clearly and endoscopic mucosal resection was perfomed with injection of hypertonic saline epinephline, free from danger. The ulcer after mucosal resection changed to scar lesion one week after in endoscopic finding.
Histologically, only marked hyperplasia composed of proper duodenal epithelial cells was noted. As accordance with popularization of endoscopy, case reports about benigh duodenal polypoid lesions have been increasing in recent days, but hyperplastic polyp of the duodenum is still uncommon. We reported a case of duodenal hyperplastic polyp which resected endoscopically in safety by using a clear cap.
