Although it is difficult to make an established diagnosis of Enterohemorrhagic E coli : O-157 infection before stool culture yield it, we should suspect it at an early stage of hemorrhagic colitis to treat appropriately and prevent further infection.
According to our two cases, a colonoscopic examination showed inflamed erosive and somewhat dirty mucosa. Lower GI series revealed thumb printing sign with the right sided colon dominance. And abdominal CT showed markedly thickened colonic wall.
As already mentioned in the previous case reports, these findings are impressive enough to remind us a presumptive diagnosis of the hemorrhagic colitis induced by Enterohemorrhagic E coli : O-157.
