Abstract

In cases of severe generalized periodontitis, multiple complex pathogenic factors are involved, making it difficult to provide adequate treatment intervention using a standard comprehensive treatment flow. Such cases require a highly accurate clinical diagnosis and a wide range of treatment options. This case involved a patient with the brachyfacial facial type who presented with severe generalized periodontitis (stage IV, grade C) and a severely impaired occlusal force and presented with severe vertical bone resorption and occlusal collapse in the molar area. As many natural teeth as possible were preserved, and oral function was reconstructed using a full cross-arch splint. Even after transitioning to SPT, the patient's dentition has been preserved for 30 years, resulting in a favorable improvement in her quality of life. We believe that this is the result of precise comprehensive periodontal treatment, establishment of a treatment system and SDM (Shared Decision Making), and maintenance of health management in the patient's life.
