Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between metacognition in art appreciation and creativity. In total, 142 university students (mean age=21.07±1.16 years) completed tasks and questionnaires for measuring their metacognitive knowledge and experience in art appreciation, creativity as a personality trait, and creativity as task performance. Metacognitive knowledge and experience were positively associated with creative personality. Furthermore, metacognitive experiences were associated with task-related creativity. The study findings highlight the important role of metacognition in art appreciation in terms of its relationship with creative personality and task-related creativity.
