Abstract

Optical frequency combs generated from microresonators (called microcombs) have the potential to be mass-producible and fully chip-scale. In addition, the large comb mode spacing of the microcombs provides unique applications, which are different from conventional fiber-based combs. In this report, we review microcombs, showing the principle of the generation of microcombs and emerging applications of microcombs such as optical communications, THz generation, and LiDAR.
