In dot images, spatial fluctuations of dots deteriorate image quality as has been reported by the present authors. The present report firstly deals with the relation between the image quality and the degree of dot-position fluctuations, and, secondly the cases where dots of only one primary color are spatially fluctuated to evaluate how each primary color component contributes to the psychological image quality.
The following results have been obtained.(i) The effects of dot-position fluctuations on the image quality are very large, and the visually acceptable dot fluctuation was such that the root mean square of dot derivation from lattice point be less than 0.05-1.00 pixel size.(ii) The importance of fluctuations of yellow, magenta and cyan dots is in the ratio of 1: 10: 5, approximately, as in the cases of granularity of conventional color photography.
