Abstract
We report the fabrication of semiconductor polymeric nanowires and characterization of their electrical conductivity. The polymeric nanowires were extruded from a blended polymer solution of poly [ (i>m-phenylenevinylene) -co- (2,5 - dioctoxy -p- phenylenevinylene) ] copolymer (PmPV) and polyethylene oxide (PEO), and deposited on lithographically patterned gold electrodes by utilizing a scanned electrospinning technique that controls the orientation of nanowires. The current-voltage curves of polymeric nanowire were investigated and we have found that they have t rectifying current-voltage characteristics due to the metal-semiconductor contact. Because of the ease of operation and high throughput of this scanned electrospinning process, it presents opportunities for the manufacture of nanowire electronic devices.
