Tetrasaccharides, having blood group A and B activities, were obtained from A and B substances, respectively. When the A-active tetrasaccharide was acted on by α-N-acetylgalactosaminidase from hog liver and the B-active tetrasaccharide by α-galactosidase from Cl. sprogenes Maebashi, N-acetylgalactosamine and galactose were liberated from these sugars, respectively, and they turned into trisaccharides having H activity.
