Abstract
This paper describes the aseismic performance of the Concrete Mat Works with Wedge Block Joints System (WBJS Works) on the basement of a concrete gravity dam. The WBJS Works were developed by the author on collaboration with other researchers to treat the basements of dams that have large-scale faults or fracture zones. These Works were first used in the Dondo Dam located in southern Hyogo Prefecture and were subjected to the trial of the Hyogo-ken Nanbu Earthquake that took place on January 17, 1995. The excellent aseismic characteristics of the WBJS Works were proved through the response behavior of this dam during the Earthquake.
