Abstract
The intradiscal pressure and the shrinkage of the disc were measured under the various compressive load, using a needle-type pressure transducer (Toyota Koki). Fifty-six cadavaric fresh human discs were used in the experiment.
The following Results were obtained :
1. The relationship between the load and the msrphological change of the disc was found to be in a parabolic curve.
2. The load within 150 kg and the intradiscal pressure were showed to be in a linear relationship.
3. The stress distribution against the compressive load was calculated to be 55% in the nucleus pulposus, 45% in the annulus fibrosus and zero in the posterior segment.
4. The specimen with a posterior metal plate fixation showed the shrinkage of 30-40% less than the specimen with the non-fixation.
