Abstract
In order to estimate the grade of disability on silicotic patients, the author conduced various analysis of the oximeter-rate obtainable upon pure oxygen inhalation and concluded as follows : 1. When the oximeter-rate of both normal and silicotic group were analysed by “γ-index method” utilizing coefficient of correlation, the results indicated that there are significant differences between normal and silicotic groups (P<0.01), and furthermore significant differences between each degree of silicosis (P<0.05). 2.Statistical differences are found between normal and silicotic groups and also between SI and SII in delay-time. 3.In saturation-time, statistical differences were observed between normal and silicotic groups (P<0.05), and statistical differences were recognized between SI and SIII. Thus, the analysis of the oximeter-rate upon inhalation of pure oxygen by silicotics is considered to be useful as a simple preliminary screening test to detect the grade of pulmonary disability in silicotics.
