In the 21st century, further contribution to solving social problems is required for academic professionals. Therefore, we set our research question as “Can engineering contribute more to solving social problems?” We consider that the answer is positive, and proposed the ethical design sciences which is a new interdisciplinary field including engineering. The ethical design sciences will contribute to systematically solving social problems through re-defining representations in design such as perspectives and description methods, positioning creative activity support tools also as experimental devices and demonstrating the effects through user studies etc. In this paper, after describing practical examples, we derived a positive answer to the question.
