Data Market Business Trends and the Growth of Data Trading Ecosystem

Abstract

Data have been used to solve various problems in business, market, and society. In order to explore the full potential of existing data to support social goals, it has been necessary to exchange and combine data from different fields. The practice of interdisciplinary use of data emerges worldwide and stimulates the demand for access to data for exchange or trade. In this study, we discussed the results of the desk research on the Web targeting data market businesses, mainly in Japan, the United States, Europe, and China. As a result, we found that the characteristics of the businesses that form the data trading ecosystem differed by countries and regions, and the data market businesses were firmly established as one business domain in the world.
