Abstract

At JSAI2020, we reported that we developed a semantic-web based database system for bioresources in RIKEN Bioresource Research Center. This system consists of a data conversion pipeline and a Web-based data retrieval software application. After officially launching the service, we not only have done data updates routinely, but also continuous expansion of the system to provide better usability by adding metadata. We integrated bioresource data with disease ontologies from four external institutions to enable search by disease-related keywords. We also improved the usability of a web user interface for retrieval system by enhancing the autocomplete feature and implementing of and/or condition. And then, we analyzed search history. In this report, we discuss the continuous expansion of a data retrieval service using semantic web technology.
