Abstract

Since mobile games are played by people all over the world on a wide variety of devices, developers have to test the performance of their game apps under various conditions. Due to the rapid release cycle of two weeks, an automated testing tool is desired so that the test code does not have to be changed when the game app is updated. KLab Inc. is currently developing "Gorilla Test," a black box testing tool that detects the user interface (UI) of a mobile game app from the screen and automatically plays the game. In this presentation, we will introduce the functions of Gorilla Test, such as UI detection, UI manipulation, scene recognition, performance monitoring, and scene transition time measurement. We apply Gorilla Test to a mobile game to show the time required for UI detection and scene recognition and the success rate of UI manipulations.
