Abstract

In recent years, sailing technology has been attracting attention on ships due to decarbonization efforts and soaring fuel costs. In this research, we propose a simple sailing mechanism and verify its control algorithm(AI) through model experiments, aiming to establish a technology for stable high-speed sailing. The ultimate goal of this research is twofold. The first is to put into practical use a ship that generates electricity by sailing. There are areas near Japan where strong winds are constantly blowing, and electricity can be generated more efficiently than on land. The second is to replace controls that currently require human training, such as yachts. It is possible to reduce the fossil fuel consumption of many small ships. In this year's presentation, we will explain the simple sailing mechanism (hardware, software) and present the sailing results.
