Abstract

In recent years, the introduction of ICT education has become more active in the educational field, and development of educational support robots have attracted attention. Conventional robots provide learning support by pressing a button operated by the learner. However, the learner may feel that the button operation is tedious, and the impression of the robot and the learning efficiency may decrease. In this study, we developed perplexion estimation method. It can estimate the state of perplexion from the learner's facial expression, and provide learning support autonomously. In this paper, we examine the learning effects on university students of an educational support robot equipped with integrated model. It combines a learning support model based on cognitive apprenticeship theory with the proposed method. We confirmed that the robot equipped with integrated method can provide the same learning effect as a conventional robot and can autonomously provide learning support at the optimum timing.
