Estimation of the impact of the AI technology on the domestic employment environment

Abstract

The impact of the remarkable progress of AI technology on the employment environment has been actively discussed. In this study, we use the method of [Webb 2019], which calculates the degree of impact based on the overlap between the technical content described in patent documents and the important skills in each occupation, to estimate (or evaluate) the impact on the domestic employment environment. Specifically, we calculate the degree of exposure to AI using Japanese patents and the Japanese version of O*NET, estimate the impact of AI technology on the employment environment, and report the results.
