The specific features of the mid-IR and water-related near-IR spectra of 2Na2O·P2O5-2ZnO·P2O5 glasses are discussed. The splitting of (i) the νas mode of the (PO3) 2- group into two components, (ii) stretching mode of the P-OH group into four components, and (iii) νas and νs modes of interstitial H2O molecule into two components each is interpreted in terms of the multi-site effect. A similarity between the water-related spectra of pyro- and metaphosphate glasses is shown.
