KINETIC STUDIES OF THE SO₂ INTERACTION WITH APATITE

The thermal reactions of SO₂ with natural and synthetic apatites (Aps) with different substitutions have been studied by thermogravimetric analysis. The experiments under dynamic and isothermal conditions (at temperatures ranging from 550 to 900°C) have been performed in the air-SO₂ flow with different SO₂ content (0.07%, 1%, 10%). The reactions proceed at temperatures from 400°C to 800-850°C according to the two or three-dimensional diffusion models and the reaction rate depends on temperature, SO₂ concentration and substitutions in the Aps structure (PO₄?CO₃, F?OH).
