The glass-ceramics of the phosphorus induced Na5RESi4O12-type (RE=rare earth) Na+ -superionic conductors (Narpsio-V) in the Y-Sm mixed system Na2O-Y2O3-Sm2O3-P2O5-SiO2 were prepared by crystallization of glasses with the composition Na3+3x-yY(1-x)/2 Sm(1-x)/2 PySi3-yO9. The optimum conditions for crystallization were discussed with reference to the conduction properties and the preparation of uncracked bulky glass-ceramic Narpsio-V. The ionic conductivity of the glass-ceramic Na4.1Y0.25Sm0.25P0.4Si2.6O9 was 2.8×10-2 S/cm at 300°C.
