Abstract
Ariake Sea, a typical closed bay on the west of the Kyushu Island, has suffered to external impacts. However it is still unclear which factor and process is more/less dominant. In this study, field observation was conducted inside the artificial tidal flat to model the physical, chemical and ecological system in tidalflat for the preservation or recovery of the coastal environment in Ariake Sea.Within one year since the artificial tidal flat was completed, the environment in the artificial tidal flat has become to settle in the surrounding it. The external meteorological and tidal condition controls the sub-tidal zone to the supralittoral zone has been constructed naturally, and such topography from the sub-tidal zone to the supra littoral zone has been constructed naturally, and such topographical condition preserves a steady environmental condition for habitat.
