Abstract
Since the publication of our article entitled, “The Recent Brachiopod Fauna of Japan.(3) Notes on the Subfamily Laqueinae, ” published in Proceedings of the Imperial Academy, Vol.11, pp.44-46, 1936, several interesting species of the genus Pictothyris have recently accumulated through the efforts of Dr. S. ENDO of our Institute. Among the recently obtained materials there were found one new species and one new subspecies of Pictothyris, and in this note we wish to describe them.
The fossils were collected by Dr. S. ENDO from two localities, viz., Kuwanomaru and Unoki, both in Yosida-mura, Kagosifma. gun, Kagosima-ken, Kyusyu, not. far distant from the city of Kagosima. Belonging to the same stratigraphic horizon, the brachiopods were found in association with a large number of shells of molluscs and balanids, besides there are also some of solitary corals and bryozoa.
