At product design stage, it is difficult to analyze functional requirements from customers and integrate these requirements into the component design scenarios. In this paper, a Function Tree Analysis model is employed to build up relationships between requirements and components design in terms of function, behavior, state hierarchies and logical relationship. This model can be regarded as a pseudocode description of product to represent assembly and control relationship between each functional module. Based on this model, designer can analyze optional design scenarios and make decisions on which parts of components can use existing designs and which parts need to use new technology. Based on this model, further optimization can be made.
