Today the competitive power of an enterprise far more depends on the quality of the maintenance service. Proper maintenance activities can prolong the lifetime of equipments, improve safety, availability, productivity, and decrease costs. Especially, it is hoped that the critical equipments in using will not fail and during the maintenance process, the maintenance work should be performed effectively at the lowest cost. Therefore, how to choose a suitable maintenance policy is very important. The purpose of the research is to try to find an approach on how to select an appropriate policy according to multi–criteria based on classification of critical equipments in maintenance activities. In this paper, a model for the process of maintenance policy decision–making based on multi–criteria classification analysis is introduced. It consists of weight setting module and decision–making module. The analytical hierarchy process and the method of multi–criteria classification of critical equipments are used to solve the problems in establishing the model. In the case study, an example is performed to illustrate this model.
