Abstract
When the lapping machine consisted of inferior bearing is used, an up–and–down change arises on the tool surface as a steady motion, and unusual tool wear and deterioration of work accuracy are caused. In this report, a theoretical analysis of the tool wear, the stock removal and the flatness of work surfaces has been carried out under lapping conditions using coarse abrasives and cast iron lap. The change of cross–section pattern of tool and work in advanced lapping was calculated, and the influence by the deflection of the up and down of tool surface especially related to bearing accuracy of lapping machine was added to it as the increase in lapping pressure.
