Technical issues to be solved for a next generation CAM to manage a high-performance machine tool

Abstract

According to the evolution of machine tools to achieve high speed, multi-axis and multi-task machining operations, several functions are newly required for a next generation CAM to manage a high-performance machine tool. Especially, reliable functions, not only to support NC programming, but also to guarantee safety NC machining and machining accuracy are required. In this report, technical issues to be solved, which were discussed in the research committee of Japan Machine Tool Builders′ Association, are introduced.
