Abstract
Metal cutting process is analyzed by PSPG (Pressure Stabilizing/Petrov-Galerkin) rigid-plastic FEM (Finite Element Method). PSPG method can treat the incompressible condition by using the same interpolation function with nodal velocity and pressure. Triangle and tetrahedral elements are used to simulate the metal cutting process. Chip formation process is analyzed by PSPG FEM, and simulation results such as chip curl is shown.
