The ECM is a non-traditional machining method. In the gap of electrochemical machining (ECM), the products in the gap, which includes bubbles, not only influence the distribution of current density, but also the current efficiency of ECM processes. It is well known that in the case of NaNO3 as electrolyte, the pulse width is shorter, the current efficiency is lower. However, the reason of this phenomenon has not been elucidated. In this research, the phenomenon was investigated directly using the transparent electrode by the high speed camera.
