Abstract

In order to prevent frequent occurrence of long pulse discharges and wire breakage, the metal plate was tightly attached with the CFRP and WEDM of CFRP was attempted. This combination machining is expected to have the effect that the most of the discharge current flows through metal plate and, therefore, total electrical resistance will be decreased. It was found that when the contact resistance between them was sufficiently small, the frequency of long pulse discharges decreased compared with CFRP solo process, and WEDM process was stabilized without wire breakage.
