The aim of this experiment is to clarify the relationship between the ability of concept formation and intelligence by use of hypothesis testing. Three age groups are used as subjects. The concepts of direction, number, and movement are tested. The correlations between intelligence and conceptual ability are positive. The hypothesis testing procedures used in concept formation are characteristic not only of intelligent children, but also of mature children of lesser brightness.
