Objective: This study investigated how Shopping Rehabilitation (SR) affects patients with Alzheimerʼs disease.
Methods: Twenty-four patients with Alzheimerʼs disease were randomly assigned to either an SR group or a usual care group. The intervention was conducted once a week for 12 weeks. The primary outcome was the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB), and the secondary outcomes were the Alzheimerʼs Disease Assessment Scale (ADAS) and the Council on Nutrition Appetite Questionnaire (CNAQ).
Results: The SR group demonstrated significant improvements in SPPB (mean difference: 0.88, p = 0.04) and CNAQ (mean difference: 4.10, p = 0.03) compared to the usual care group. However, no significant differences were observed in ADAS scores between the two groups.
Conclusion: SR may improve physical function and appetite in patients with Alzheimerʼs disease.
