This paper reports the results of a survey on the activities and applications of Quality Engineering Approaches in Japanese companies. There was a similar paper reported by Antje Peters of MIT in 1994 from the similar survey for the US companies. Our survey targeted about 170 Japanese companies which involve the Quality Engineering activities. Among those, about 120 companies answered our questionaires. 17 questions with the following contents were asked: (1) How Quality engineering was introduced? (2) Promotional activities. (3) Training. (4) Research works. (5) Overall comments. The item-wise analysis of this survey was reported before. ln this paper, a more detailed analysis, cross observation and the comments in the questionaires were discussed and put in order. We hope this paper be informative, although some areas might be hard to understand.
