The strategy from the viewpoint of Quality Engineering for manufacturing management is to give a monetary evaluation of quality so that they can improve productivity of manufacturing systems. The loss function is the strategy so that manufacturing people can find the balance point of processing speed and quality level due to quality variation. It also enables us to specify tolerances for quality characteristics at final stages. Quality loss function is much better than other measures such as process capabity index or six-sigrna as they are not in terrms of monetary evalution. Management problem to use monetary prediction before shipping is stated in §7.4.
