Abstract

An adverse outcome pathway (AOP) is a simplified analytical construct that begins with a molecular initiating event and describes the sequential chain of key events to an adverse outcome and causally linked key event relationships. This paper reviews history and recent developments of AOPs and its application in the field of chemical regulatory science and radiation protection.
