Adsorption behavior of Pu (IV) on SiO2 or Al2O3 from HNO3 solution containing KIO3 has been studied.
Adsorption ratio, D (ml/g) increases with the concentration of KIO3 and decreases with the concentration of HNO3. On the basis of the variation of D with the concentration of KIO3, stability constants of Pu (IN) complexes with IO3-are calculated and it is concluded to be most reasonable that adsorption of Pu (IV) does not result from apparent postprecipitation of Pu (IO3) 4 on SiO2 or Al2O3, but interaction between positively charged SiO2 or Al2O3 and Pu (I03) 62- complex anion.
