The Effects of the Music to Support Interaction for Children with Developmental Disabilities

Abstract

This research examines actually the effect of the music in the support interaction to both the interpersonal communication difficulty that children with developmental disabilities. The subject children were 18 children with developmental disabilities and the therapist in charge of those children with developmental therapy organization. The variable was action consultation of the child and the Consciousness nature to the child of the therapist in charge between 3 conditions without active music presentation, static music presentation, and non music. And the subject pair was classified into 2 of an animated group and a calm group from the activity in respect of a test situation, and it classified into 2 of groups according to the communication level of the child. Music affecting interactive action by a relation with the character of activity to a child, and affecting an emotions side by a relation with the level of interaction of the child in charge to a therapist was shown as a result of comparison between 3 conditions by four groups. It was suggested that music has affected two persons’ interaction according to the emotions-reaction of the therapist it is easy to begin communication first. Examining how feeling the music for a therapist in detail was mentioned as one of subjects.
