Abstract

Chikugo Yoshii Traditional Architectures Preservation District is one of the Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Historic Buildings. This article investigates the continuity of streetscape on this historical area. We had researched and identified 195 buildings as conventional buildings or non-conventional buildings according to the imperative manual. We also analyzed the continuity of streetscape used by index CON. The results indicate that 94 buildings are conventional buildings and 101 are non-conventional buildings. 53% streets hold their continuity of streetscape. Some areas have conventional buildings confined to one side of street. In these cases, it is difficult to identify their streetscape as a continuing unity area.
