Abstract

This research aims to find out the inhabitants' consciousness gap between generations and the possibility of intergenerational exchange toward sustainable society in a long-distance suburb. We studied Kiminomori in Chiba prefecture, and we regarded the community as active. We researched inhabitants' interest in community activities and mutual learning by generations. Elderly people are interested in neighborly relations, revitalization of local shop, disaster prevention and environmental sustainability activities. Younger people have more interest in activities of children's safety, community gardening and nature experiences. All ages people are interested in cleaning activities.
