The purpose of this study is to estimate vacant dwellings rates of apartment house in a small district. We investigated the number of apartment houses located in the urban area of Wakayama City and proposed a simple math formula to estimate the rates of vacant dwellings based on the number of houses and the population. The current and future rates were calculated and the results were different in each district. It is required to consider the housing supply and demolition according to the vacant dwellings rates in each district.
