Effect of Wilderness Virtual Image Symbolically Expressed on Impression in Japanese Rock Gardens

Abstract

It was attempted to search characteristic of landscape elements in Japanese rock gardens. It was surveyed visitor's impression for gardens. We focus attention on greenery, white sand and rocks as a landscape element. The relationship between the landscape element and the impression in gardens was explored. We collected text data that visitor imagine from scene of garden and analyzed text-mining approach. As the result, it was found that resident recognize not only environment by direct perception but also imaginative area. It was considered that wilderness virtual image symbolically expressed reflect on naturalness. The results show that perception inclusive of virtually environment is important for assessment of environment and environment equipment.
