There is an increasing number of cases where universities are cooperating with local communities tackling community design. Also, in areas where historic townscapes remain, open-to-public cultural properties are particularly expected to play a role as a regional base. Department of Architecture in Niigata University has proposed local regeneration plans as practice program for urban planning studies. Since 2012, in collaboration with the former Ozawa family residence, which is a municipally designated tangible cultural property, we are working through the exercises on the realization of past proposals.
