Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the role and function of middle-class public housing in depopulating society. The main conclusion are as follows : 1) According to the reference to 41 prefectures, 25 prefectures are supplying middle-class public housing. But the necessity of middle-class public housing is admitted only 4 prefectures. 2) According to the questionnaire survey to 53 municipalities in Fukushima prefecture, the middle-class public housing is widely used 47 municipalities. 3) As a result of 1) and 2), there is a possibility that future middle-class public housing policy is used at the depopulating and rural municipalities.
