Spatial Transformation of the Surrounding Area by Opening of Interchange

Analysis of Regional Mesh Data

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to clarify whether the establishment of an additional interchange has achieved economic activation in the area surrounding the interchange. Analyses using regional mesh data were conducted for areas within a radius of 5 km centered on the additional interchange. As a result, it was confirmed that the installation of the additional interchange achieved population growth in the area surrounding the interchange. Moreover, in the area near the railway line, the tendency of population growth and the concentration of companies was strongly confirmed. These results suggest that cooperation with stakeholders is important when setting up an additional interchange.
