The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between the tumulus and the surrounding urban areas from the perspective of secular changes in the formation of block and the road ratio, and to contribute to the future planning of the area around the tumulus. Two analyses were conducted: one was to compare the trends in the formation of block using Geographical Survey Institute maps for the six selected years, and the other was to determine the ratio of road area to the area of the adjacent range. As a result of the study, we clarified the following. A formation of block parallel to the tumulus and a radial formation of block centered on the tumulus were formed. In addition, the percentage of roads with a small number of lanes was high around the tumulus. Therefore, it was found that the ancient tumulus and residential areas were deeply related.
