Abstract

This study examines the spatial planning and utilization of open spaces in Tokyo under the "Tokyo Urban Landscape Promotion Ordinance." Open spaces enhance urban life quality and social interaction. The study analyzes spatial planning trends and utilization from 2022 reports using literature reviews and surveys. Results show that fixed installations, store placement, warehouse logistics, and canopy designs significantly influence usage. The "peripheral arrangement" of installations and multiple store placement enhance daily use, while well considered warehouse logistics and canopy spaces support diverse events. Effective planning considering active use and weather resilience is crucial for future open space development.
