In the heavily damaged areas, many large scale retail stores tended to open in the south of Nishinomiya city, Nada ward and Higashi Nada ward early. In these areas, some factories or warehouses were destroyed by the earthquake and the conversion of land use from manufacturing facilities or warehouse in the stricken area had urged the branch shop of a large-scale store. We analyzed the location trend of large scale retail stores and change of land use in non damaged areas of north Osaka to compare with damaged area. As a result, it was clarified that large lots used industrial purpose in damaged areas changed quickly to large scale retail stores. It is important to make consideration for the relationships between industries such as retail, manufacturing and distribution.
