The Feasibility of Implementing Reuse Bento Plates in Convenience Stores of Small or Middle-Sized Cities

Abstract

Reusing containers and tableware such as using reuse cups in event stadiums is practiced in many countries such as Germany, Korea and Japan, as environmental problems become more and more concerned today. Instead of the enclosed places of event stadiums, this paper explores the feasibility of introducing reuse bento plates to convenience stores of small and medium-sized cities in Japan. By applying the LCA results of the CUP CONCEPT Company of Germany, it proves that the negative environmental impact can be reduced by the proposed reuse scheme. Moreover, the possible problems of actual implementation are also discussed.
